The summer holidays, the most awaited moment throughout the year. And yet, it can become a frustrating experience and end up eliminating the desire to travel. This is what happens to many Spaniards and Europeans, who see how their travel wishes cannot be fulfilled.
The main cause of this disappointment is that vacations generate many expectations when traveling that are not always met. In this sense, the survey promoted by the Last-minute portal and developed by the consultancy YouGov in nine European countries (United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Spain) reveals that only 1% of Europeans have fulfilled all of their travel wish list and that, on the other hand, there is 16% who have not been able to materialize any of their dreams.
According to the results of the survey, 11% of Europeans they have managed to make half of their dreams come true and 2.8% have achieved 80% of their aspirations. The countries that present the greatest frustration, that is, that state that they have not fulfilled any of their travel wishes with a higher proportion, are the United Kingdom (24%) and France (20%); while Norway (10%) and Spain (13% ) have the lowest percentages of unfulfilled expectations.
Frustrated desire to travel
- In the case of Spain, it should also be noted that 11% of those surveyed have managed to complete half of their wish list when traveling and only 3% have reached 80% of their hopes, a percentage that it drops to 1% compared to those surveyed who have fulfilled all of their ambitions. Thus, it remains in tune with the whole of Europe.
- The study reveals which are the most intense travel desires of the countries that have participated in the study, based on a list of proposals raised by the survey. The first three positions in the ranking are: visit the ‘Wonders of the World'(41%), the ambition most shared by all Europeans, followed by a ‘safari experience’ (40%) and a stay in a ‘luxury hotel abroad’ (36%).
- Regarding Spain, it should be noted that the second and third position are reversed: 38% of Spaniards would like to stay in a luxury hotel rather than go on safari (30%), and in both cases the least interesting option is ‘to know to a celebrity’ during the holidays
