The Palace hotel in Barcelona once again shines at its best, after more than a year of painstaking restoration work. The majestic building, located on the Gran Vía, has opened its doors, once again becoming the hotel symbol of the city.
Located in the center of the city, the hotel is very close to Paseo de Gracia and Las Ramblas, a few meters from the best architecture of Antoni Gaudí and modernism. Located in the most prestigious commercial area of Barcelona, the Palace is surrounded by the most exclusive shops, the best theaters and the main financial institutions.
A careful restoration in detail
Tradition makes the difference in this emblematic hotel in Barcelona. For this reason, the reform process carried out by the high-end decoration firm Gastón y Daniela has respected the classic spirit that has always characterized this hotel, recreating the atmosphere of the golden decade of the 20s.
To revive its former glamour, the original appearance of the railings, mirrors, windows, walls and ceilings, as well as all its historical elements, have been recovered. Even the furniture is a replica of the old furniture used at the beginning of the century. On the other hand, the façade has also been totally rehabilitated, respecting the original.
The symbol of luxury and glamor
The Palace offers rooms equipped to detail and suites with precious Roman marble baths. Once the reform was completed, the hotel has 125 rooms, of which 42 are suites and junior suites, all of them equipped with the latest technology.
The hotel also has eight function rooms for any type of event and, in 2010, the renowned Caelis Restaurant, which offers a wide range of cuisine from Chef Romain Fornell, as well as all the restaurant services that include New Bar-Restaurant AE, the famous Scotch Bar or the elegant Salón Jardín.
The Palace opened its doors for the first time in 1919, the result of an initiative by Francesc Cambó and César Ritz, and soon became a symbol of prestige, along with its sister establishments in Madrid, London and Paris. The Hotel has been chosen by the majority of European royalty, by politicians, artists, and by the great Hollywood stars who succumbed to its aristocratic air and its exquisite decoration. Some even came to live in it.
The Hotel is only suitable for the wealthiest pockets but seeing it is free and, at least, we can enjoy photos of the interior where luxury is the order of the day.
