When Carnival arrives, everyone knows that it is a party to have fun and to dress up for any reason that interests them. Carnival is the most anticipated time of the year because people like to dress up and enjoy the festivities. But why do people dress up? Why is there a need to choose a good costume to enjoy this party? Because everyone knows that if you don’t dress up, you’re not enjoying Carnival.
The meaning of celebrating carnivals
- These festivals have an international character and are celebrated all over the world. There are generations and generations that have enjoyed carnivals and it is that they are parties that everyone loves because there is a certain degree of permissiveness, something that people take advantage of to feel free at the party.
- It is not possible to know where exactly the Carnival party comes from, but it is related to the festivities that were held in commemoration of agriculture. The peasants gathered in the summers with their faces covered and their bodies painted around a bonfire to celebrate the good land for the crops and to ward off the bad energies that could hinder the growth of the crops.
- The first recorded carnivals were in Egypt, Greece and Rome and were festivals associated with the spiritual world. It was celebrated through parties, songs, masks and parties where rich and poor mixed regardless of who they were because the costume covered their identity. The costumes and masks were a way of preserving identity and being able to enjoy the excesses, excesses and permissiveness associated with this party.
- Then the Carnival arrived in Venice and spread to the whole world, and since then it has been lived with great joy with masks, costumes, parades, dances, music… and everything a party needs. The current and most famous Carnival in the world is still the Carnival of Brazil.
